At the start of last season, he didn’t have many games as a regular first-team player, but he has shown he is a good player when he has featured.
In this transfer window, there has been a lot of speculation about his future, with a lot of people saying he won’t play a lot and Arsenal needs an upgrade from him. Lewis-Skelly is a young player who came from the Arsenal academy, and he has shown that he is one for the future.
Selling a player like him could come back to bite Arsenal in the future, and especially selling him to their rivals, Chelsea, would be a dangerous game for Arsenal to play.
It has been reported that Chelsea is interested in signing Lewis-Skelly; although an official bid has not gone in yet, Chelsea looks like the strong contender to sign him. Having splashed £117 million on Morgan Rogers, it feels like Chelsea wants to do their business early.
Chelsea will want to do their business this transfer season because they cannot sign players in the next two transfer windows. Manchester United has also appeared to be looking at Lewis-Skelly as the club needs another midfielder.
Arsenal shouldn’t sell him because he is one of their own and the hierarchy will regret this if he is sold to their London rivals or their Premier League rivals. Either way, Lewis-Skelly might not be at the North London club by 1st September.
