After a three-year layoff, Errol Spence came back to the boxing ring, and he looked like a shadow of himself. He looked like a man who should be in the ring, and he should have retired three years ago.
In the first round, he looked rusty, and his movements were off; it felt like the ring looked too big for him. The showdown in Sydney was eventful as Tszyu walked Spence down and took his boxing prowess round after round.
In the eighth round, Spence looked like he didn’t want to be in the ring anymore. Tszyu didn’t have to show any boxing acumen or intelligence; it was just sheer arrogance and ring generalship to beat Spence, who was once the master of the ring. Spence did find some special moments in the tenth round with the right hand, but it was not enough to secure the unanimous decision for Tszyu (118-110, 117-111, 117-111).
After the fight, Spence announced his retirement from the sport, which was a good idea based on the fight. Spence has had a good career, collecting three belts out of the four from the welterweight division and beating the likes of Shawn Porter and Kell Brooks.
